Alterations and Extension to Carrowmore Visitors Centre, Sligo for the Office of Public Works

Tender description

The OPW requires alterations and extension to Carrowmore Visitors Centre, Sligo. The existing building is a single storey bungalow / cottage type building with a small exhibition area, staff facilities and toilets for visitors to the Carrowmore Megalithic Cemetery site, located approximately 3km west of Sligo Town. The proposed works are comprised of alterations and extension to the existing visitors centre, including: 1. The construction of a new entrance porch; 2. The addition of 2 windows to new Reception Area; 3. New external canopy to the rear of the building; 4. Refurbishment of existing toilets; 5. Construction of a new access ramp and steps from the carpark to new entrance porch. 6. Installation of ducts for future EV charging points 7. New internal MandE Services 8. New plasterboard ceilings 9. New exhibition installation by others outside the scope of this contract 10. Temporary buildings for staff and visitors during construction works. The site is located in an area of internationally important archaeological significance. The site is in the ownership of the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage and is registered with the Property Registry Authority Ireland under Folio Number: SL9533F. The proposed site is located within the boundary of National Monument NM No.153b. Under SI:690/2003 the day to day operation in respect of the National Monuments properties under state care has been transferred to the OPW.
