Surgical Tenders
See open surgical tenders and awarded contracts for the UK public sector.
Surgical buying runs on two different rhythms. Consumables go out as long multi-supplier frameworks covering sutures, gloves, drapes and minimally invasive devices. Capital kit goes out one item at a time: a robot, a set of operating lights, a diathermy machine called off an existing agreement.
Stotles tracks 1,313 surgical notices from 100+ portals, most of them awards and pipeline rather than live tenders. 580 are awards and 185 are pre-tender, so the award record and the early notices carry the signal.

Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions about surgical instruments, surgical equipment, surgical consumables, surgical gloves, surgical robot, operating theatre, laparoscopic, minimally invasive surgery, electrosurgical, surgical sutures in the UK public sector.
How do I find surgical tenders in the UK?
Two ways in. Search the portals for live surgical tenders, or move earlier and work the pipeline: pre-tender notices, board papers and capital plans name the kit a trust intends to replace before any tender exists. Stotles pulls surgical notices from 100+ portals into one search. Platform-wide, 2,137 tenders are open now and 0 notices were added last week.
What CPV codes cover surgical procurement?
The codes that turn up most alongside surgical notices are 33169000 (Surgical instruments), 33162100 (Operating-theatre devices), 33161000 (Electrosurgical unit) and 33141420 (Surgical gloves). Buyers apply them loosely. Plenty of surgical notices carry only 33100000 (Medical equipments), or no code at all, which is why this page filters on keywords instead of codes.
Who buys surgical equipment and consumables?
Trusts and health boards buy the capital kit, usually calling off a national agreement rather than tendering from scratch. Consumables are bought collectively: national supply bodies and regional consortia run the large multi-supplier frameworks that individual hospitals then draw on. Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Ireland each run their own equivalents, so the same product reaches tender several times under different names.
Are surgical contracts mostly awarded through frameworks?
A large share of them. The awards in this data are dominated by multi-supplier framework agreements and call-offs against them, which is how theatre consumables actually reach a hospital. 44% of suppliers say frameworks are their main route to market (Stotles 2026 Supplier Benchmark Report). For a surgical supplier, getting onto the agreement matters more than watching for one-off tenders.
How much surgical activity does Stotles track?
1,313 surgical notices across every stage, 580 of them awards and 185 at pre-tender. Coverage is thinner at the open-tender end, so the award record is the more useful read: it shows which frameworks are running, and when they run out. Platform-wide, 39,710 awarded contracts expire in the next twelve months.
