Tender description

The proposed IW National Laboratory will have an expected analytical capacity of approximately 1.2 million tests per year. The laboratory will have organic and inorganic chemistry laboratories, microbiology and parasitology laboratories with all of the required supporting services including utility support areas, gas stores, consumables storage and waste storage areas. The facility will also have meeting rooms, offices, and reception, canteen and welfare facilities for the laboratory staff. It is anticipated that this laboratory would have a staff cohort of circa 100 people. The development will consist of the construction of a new Irish Water National Laboratory (part single and part two storey) with laboratory at ground floor and plant room and external plant at first floor/ roof level.(total gfa 3,736m2 approx.); external screened plant enclosure; bicycle shed; ESB substation; smoking shelter; new vehicular entrance to lands from Old Ballysimon Road and access road from Old Ballysimon Road, from which access to the proposed National Laboratory will be provided; footpath along Old Ballysimon Road; 107 No. car parking spaces and 12 No. van parking spaces; ancillary site development and landscaping works; all on a site of 2.84ha. approx.
