Established in 1980, Youghal Community Centre provides facilities for a wide range of community groups to meet and offer activities in the heart of the town centre. The facility includes a reception area, modern kitchen facility, a substantial ‘main hall’ with stage area, breakout (meeting) rooms, toilet and changing facilities. The board has been guided by ‘Surespec Fire Ltd.,’ Fire Safety Specialists in all of it’s fire safety upgrade works to date. In the first half of 2022, a full fire safety audit /risk assessment was carried out by Surespec Fire Safety Ltd. These Fire Safety Specialists have identified the ceiling in the Main Hall and stage area as requiring urgent replacing with appropriate fire rated wall-cladding which must adhere to the Fire Ceiling Specification as detailed in the Gyproc “White Specification Book”. This project entails undertaking fire safety upgrade works to the Main Hall and stage area of the community centre. The ceiling in its current condition poses a fire safety risk and a new ceiling with appropriate fire rated wall-cladding are required to be installed. These works will follow on the programme of fire safety upgrade works that have been already undertaken in the Centre over the past number of years. Fire doors and window replacement together with a new floor area will also be required.
