Conservation of Roof and External Envelope Kilworth Community Centre

Funding for a restoration and conservation project has been obtained for Phase 1a €197,257.27 inclusive of VAT and Contingency (Roofing and conservation of exterior) The works proposals are shown on accompanying drawings. A specification of the works is provided which covers:- Phase 1a • Scaffolding and access • Repairing roof structure and carefully removing slates and renailing 65% and replacement 35% including ventilation space and Rafterlok insulation • Associated lead flashings • Retaining cast iron rain water goods • Replastering in rough cast lime render the main nave and transepts • Removing old rusty window guards and removing rust from stone. • Providing new wire powder coated stainless steel wire guards to stain glass windows • Land drainage improvements A high standard of masonry and plastering skills is expected with knowledge of curing and aftercare of lime products. It is expected that the general contractor will employ qualified craftsmen directly or through a skilled domestic sub contractor. The successful tenderer will be able to demonstrate an understanding of conservation best practice for masonry and roofing works with appropriate references and methodologies.
