Track Widening (Phase 1) at Punchestown Racecourse, Punchestown, Co. Kildare

Tender description

Enhancements of the established racecourse track at Punchestown Racecourse. Phase 1;- The home straight will be widened over a length of approx. 800m. The track will be widened up to a maximum of 54m. At the finish line, the home straight will be 35m wider than it is currently. The widening of the existing home straight will involve filling-in two existing attenuation ponds and extension of the track into this area. The depth of fill required along the widened section of track will generally be in the order of 3-4m. Additional fill of up to around 6m depth will be required beside the smaller existing pond. The fill materials will primarily comprise of subsoil, topsoil, sands and gravels. The fill materials will be sourced from natural materials within the overall Punchestown landholding. Works will include installation of the top performance layer with associated filter drainage network all to Racetrack Specialist Designer's specification. Works will include new sand canter to inside of track and forming a new lined attenuation pond to be constructed in front of the main stand.
