Consulting Services – Joint Animal & Clinical Waste Project

Tender description

The States would like an Animal and Clinical Waste Solution to be commissioned and operational by January 2024. The scope would be to install a solution to replace the current animal and clinical waste incinerators within set limits of timescale and cost. The scope of the project will need to include - research and investigation; product development; preparation, build and installation; training and changes of working practice; test and control measures; hand over arrangements. There is a responsibility to ensure arrangements with current slaughter contractor is maintained and that agreements are made to reflect new operating procedures. Other considerations include the concurrent PEH restructuring project where the decommissioning of the current PEH Boiler House Incinerator falls in line with the completion and hand over of the new solution. The desired outcome for the project is the replacement of the animal and clinical incinerators with new, co-located or combined equipment. The benefits of which would include reduced running costs, reduced maintenance costs and simplified operational systems, improved emissions compliance, and improved monitoring. This would also release valuable space at the PEH for other uses. The hope is that the new solution would trigger a reduction in the volume of clinical waste being incinerated, improved staff working conditions and close integration with other waste operations.
