Tender description
The site covers the following sections of the A29 Coleraine Ring Road carriageway • between the Beechfield Park priority junction and the exit taper on the southern arm of the Bushmills Road Roundabout (approx. 0.9km) • between the exit taper on the northern arm of the Bushmills Road Roundabout and the entry flare on the southern arm of the Portrush Road Roundabout (approx. 1.41km). The works will be carried out within the extents of the existing paved width. The project involves All permanent and temporary works associated with the realignment and resurfacing of the A29 Coleraine Ring Road carriageway to facilitate the provision of a shared active travel path along the western extent of the carriageway. The site extents consist of the A29 Coleraine Ring Road carriageway between the Beechfield Park priority junction and the exit taper on the southern arm of the Bushmills Road Roundabout (0.9km), and the section between the exit taper on the northern arm of the Bushmills Road Roundabout and the entry flare on the southern arm of the Portrush Road Roundabout (1.41km). Key works activities within the site will include: A. Site clearance B. Realignment and resurfacing of the existing carriageway as per the contract drawings, to alter the existing paved cross section from hard shoulder-carriageway-hard shoulder, to 3.5m shared footway/cycleway-1m landscape strip-1m hard strip-carriageway-1m hard strip C. Reducing the northbound and southbound traffic lane widths to facilitate the provision of a 1m wide landscape strip and 3.5m wide shared footway/ cycleway along the western side of the carriageway. D. Construction of the 3.5m wide shared footway/ cycleway to a depth of 230mm. E. Installation of new road, footway and verge drainage F. The raising of existing gully covers and existing manhole/service covers. G. Providing new road markings H. Installation of tactile paving I. Installation of a Vehicle Restraint System J. Landscaping consisting of topsoiling and grassing K. Temporary traffic management on roads as defined by the Roads (NI) Order 1993. L. Making arrangements with all relevant Statutory Undertakers and Public Authorities within the Works M. Fulfilling the duties of the Principal Contractor under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2016.
