Replacement of Hot and Cold Water Services, Heating Systems and all Associated Works at Airbles Tower, Motherwell. (HO MR 20 702/ NLC-SLP-22-041)

Tender description

North Lanarkshire Council wishes to establish a contract for the removal of existing and installation, testing and commissioning of new hot and cold water services, heating and ventilation systems and all associated works at Airbles Tower, Motherwell, North Lanarkshire. The contract is to also incorporate a contractor design portion. The outline scope of Works includes, but is not limited to; 1. Ground floor common room/ ground floor laundry and plant room - replace cold water booster pumps and replace all cast iron cold water pipework with copper, sterilize and flush full cold water system including 2 x 2000L external GRP storage tanks; 2. Tower Service Riser – replace cast iron cold water supply pipework with copper; 3. Flats – downtakings – strip out all hot and cold water service pipework and tanks/ immersion heaters / cylinders in each flat. Remove all electric storage heaters from rooms; strip back wiring to CU; remove kitchen and extract fans and ducting and make good; 4. Flats - cold water – replace all pipework in flats at low level to existing WC/ sink/ Bath/ Shower etc (all taps/ showerheads replaced) note all existing sanitaryware will be retained; 5. Flats - heating and hot water / ventilation – exhaust air heat pump (EAHP) to be installed in each flat hall cupboard (fridge freezer size unit), flow and return pipework to sinks/ bath/ shower/ WC and 6 radiators per flat (pipe runs above ceiling and dropping down into rooms). Temperature control via wall mounted thermostat in each flat. Install insulated extract duct from kitchen and bathroom to EAHP then exhaust taken out through external kitchen wall; 6. Contractor Design Portion (CDP) elements; 6.1 Pipework expansion, compensators and anchoring –(compensators and anchors to suit the installations, taking cognisance of weight, in compliance with the specification); 6.2. Suspension/ supports/ brackets/ mounts – (supports to suit the installations, taking cognisance of weight, in compliance with the specification); 6.3. Condensate drain and overflows – (positioning and runs) (note: condensate drains and overflows are specified, sized and indicated on the tender issue schematic and layouts drawings); 6.4. BWIC (co-ordinate and size openings to be formed through structural and non-structural elements of the building, including firestopping and managing asbestos, all openings through fire barriers and building fabric due to removal of system(s) to be repaired by approved specialist(s)); 6.5. Exhaust Air Heat Pump Installation (supply, design, installation, commission and certification of the exhaust air heat pump unit system – including pipework, ductwork, control / power wiring. Installation contractor to be MCS certified); 6.6 System cleaning and chemical treatment process (design, installation and operation of system cleaning and chemical treatment process, by specialist, including all relevant tests and samples)
