Tender description

The Northern Lighthouse Board is seeking the services of an experienced and competent contractor to co-ordinate and conduct the below outlined construction works at Lunna Holm Lighthouse Background Lunna Holm Minor Light is situated at 60°27.344'N 001°02.512'W. Lunna Holm island is located North East of Lunna Ness on mainland Shetland. The light is at the North end of Lunna Holm island. Access to the site is by boat from Collafirth, Shetland. Proposed Works The proposed project includes the full refurbishment of the small GRP tower and concrete base, replacement of optic system and replacement of the perimeter fence. The works shall comprise of the following: •Clean down and removal of any growth from GRP tower and concrete plinth. •Replacement of 64No. lexan glazing panels in lightroom and any fixings necessary (As agreed with NLB Engineer's Representative). •Inspect GRP structure and handrail fixings and washers, and replace as necessary (As agreed with NLB Engineer's Representative). •Replace Alfas seal around 2No. Lowes doors. •Replace existing optic system with an ODSL200 optic with sectoring. •Replace existing timber post and wire fence with new metal post and wire fence. As part of the project works the Principal Contractor is required to organise an early 'Initial' pre-site start Asbestos Survey / Report within the NLB estate via and UKAS accredited asbestos company to identify and hopefully remove any asbestos containing materials before Contractor's personnel arrive on site. Contractors Site Visit Tenderers are advised to attend this mandatory site visit schedule for Thursday 1st July 2021 (subject to possible alterations due to COVID travel restrictions) to familiarize themselves with the location and the available space and any restrictions. COVID-19 restrictions will be in place during the site visit. The appropriate PPE equipment and COVID-19 guidelines, restriction and social distancing must be adhered to whilst on the island.
