Allerdale Borough Council is seeking quotations for a project to improve and enhance the existing urban street and deteriorated underpass. It comprises of the complete re-configuration and re-surfacing of current road vehicle, shared cycle and pedestrian paved areas within and surrounding the underpass to Pow Street and Ladies Walk bridges adjacent to Brow Top car park in central Workington. The aim of the project is to establish and reflect anticipated combined future street use in this developing area of the town. Works will include traffic calming and safety measures, cleaning of existing masonry walls (not soffits and steelwork), landscape improvements and street furniture and the provision of free-standing post and panels supports onto which artwork panels will be fixed (by others commissioned by the Employer direct), depicting scenes and imagery of local industry, commerce and heritage."
