Royal West of England Academy - Light and Inspiration capital project

Tender description

The Royal West of England Academy are seeking experienced construction companies to carry out refurbishment and new build works at the RWA on Queens Road. The works involve the replacement of two large rooflights, the construction and installation of a new lift, supply and installation of a air source heat pump and system, the upgrade of existing electrical services, and other maintenance and refurbishment works as detailed within the design information. Planning approval for the works has been granted and further details of the proposed works can be found by accessing the planning portal on Bristol City Council's website with the following link, and using the application number 20/02068/LA. The project will use the JCT Standard Building Contract Without Quantities 2016 (SBC/XQ), with 'Contractor's Designed Portion': • The Lift Car and associated rails and mechanical equipment (a structural engineer has been engaged and shaft drawings have been produced). • Piled foundations for the lift shaft. • Mechanical and electrical services (a very detailed Performance Specification has been produced and provides sufficient information for the design to be progressed). • Rooflights. A supplier for the rooflights has been engaged, however interface details will only become apparent during construction. The works are to commence during the second quarter of 2021 with an anticipated contract duration of eight months.
