Tender description

A Contractor is being sought through an open OJEU procurement process to undertake the construction of a new 2 storey extension along with the refurbishment/remodelling of the East Riding Hornsea Leisure Centre. Works are to extend the existing Leisure Centre building with a 2 storey extension. The increased floor area will create space for customer services, library, education room, adult care services, office space, a larger café and Public toilets will be provided within the extension in addition to a fully fitted changing places facility for disabled users. The extension will also provide an enhanced tone zone fitness suite together with a dedicated spinning room. New changing facilities will also be provided on both floors.The works will include improved urban realm/ landscape connecting the site to the promenade, Kiosk buildings will be removed and replaced by quality hard landscaping and a terraced seating area serving the new cafe. The existing centre will undergo major refurbishment as part of this development. Mechanical and electrical installations will be replaced as will wall and floor finishes. Internal alterations to enhance changing facilities and improve disabled access will be carried out. The building will be made significantly more energy efficient to improve the sustainability of the centre going forward. To ensure that construction work can be carried out as safely as possible, in the best possible timescale, it is proposed that the Leisure Centre and swimming pool will close in autumn 2018 and reopen in autumn 2019, with the construction programme taking around a year.
