Tender description
The Smart Systems and Heat Programme Phase 2 (SSH2) has been developed to create future-proof and economic local heating solutions for the UK. It will connect an understanding of consumer needs and behavior, with the development and integration of new technologies and with new business models. The associated insight will deliver enhanced knowledge across industry and the public sector, resulting in industry and investor confidence to implement SSH2 informed solutions from 2020 and thereby enable a UK heat transition to lower carbon alternatives, within an appropriate policy and support environment to deliver a cost-effective UK energy system transition. As part of SSH2 ongoing study, the ESC created a “Living Lab” by extending the trials with previous participants and sourcing new participants where the HESG system was installed and in a small number of suitable properties, Air Sources Heat Pumps were also installed alongside the existing gas boiler to create a hybrid heating system. We are seeking to install additional homes within the Living Lab this year (as listed above) and are seeking a framework for future years installations and ongoing maintenance and support. All of the homes in the Living Lab will require ongoing maintenance and breakdown support for the coming year and future years. It is envisaged that the Living Lab will run for an initial period of 38 weeks up to 3 years (subject to funding) and possible longer depending on the nature and type of research that may be undertaken in the future. Keywords: HESG, Living Lab
