Mountain Bike Trail Recreational Development, Coolaney

Tender description

The proposed mountain bike trail recreational development is located near Coolaney, County Sligo in the area of the Ox Mountains known as Hungry Rock. The principal land use is commercial forestry. The area is distinctly rural in character, upland and well forested, very sparsely populated and predominantly served by lightly-trafficked local roads. The project is a partnership between Coillte, Sligo County Council and is supported by the Dept of Rural and Community Development. It will be developed in a maximum of four phases. The mountain-bike trail network when completed will comprise of more than 80kms of singletrack mountain bike trails and the entire development was granted planning permission by Sligo County Council in September 2017. It is centred on one trailhead located near Coolaney village in Co. Sligo. Information on the development can be found at Sligo County Council's online planning portal at: http://www.eplanning.ie/SligoCC/AppFileRefDetails/17294/0 The first phase (to which this SAQ and subsequent tender applies) will design and build approximately 15-20kms of singletrack non-bitmac mountain bike trails to provide a trail network. The first phase will build trails centred at the trailhead and it will also include the installation of signage and waymarking.
