The Ministry of Justice is seeking expressions of interest from providers for the provision of foodstuff to allpublic sector and in-scope private sector prisons in England and Wales. This is 1 of the Ministry of Justice'smost critical services as foodstuff products are essential for the preparation of more than 94 000 000 meals forPrisoners and Prison staff each year. Suppliers must be able to provide a wide range of foodstuff products and have the ability to deliver products on a national basis. Products must also comply with all relevant food safety legislation. Prison kitchens are within the prison gates and therefore deliveries must be operated in line with strict securityand other prison policies. Estimated cost for 4 years (not including any extension options to be added to contract) excluding VAT: 220 000 000 GBP The purpose of this notice is to: (i) inform the market of a prospective contract opportunity in connection with the supply of prisoner and non-prisoner food; and (ii) request information that may be relevant to the procurement strategy and may be adopted by the Ministry ofJustice. The next stage of the process is to seek input from potential suppliers, potentially through supplier days to be held in August/September 2015. In the first instance suppliers should respond to this PIN to register their interest in attending a supplier day/being involved in any pre tender questionnaires to gather information by sending an email to the Food Supply Commercial Team at priority_programme@justice.gsi.gov.uk The form of response should be limited to the provision of a single point of contact (company name, contactname, job title, e-mail address and telephone number). The Ministry of Justice will then issue an invite to all interested parties confirming the date, timings and location of the event, along with/or a bidder's questionnaire.
