E-Commerce Tenders
See open e-commerce tenders and awarded contracts for the UK public sector.
Public sector e-commerce rarely arrives labelled as retail. It turns up as a college replacing its online store and payment platform, a museum re-tendering logistics for its shop, or a website redevelopment with the trading function buried in one lot.
863 notices across every stage mention e-commerce, and 302 of those are awarded contracts. Only three are open right now. Another 65 sit at pre-tender, so most of the signal here is in the award history and in what buyers publish before a tender exists.

Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions about e-commerce, ecommerce, eshop, shopify, magento in the UK public sector.
How do I find public sector e-commerce contracts?
Two ways in. Search the public and private portals for live e-commerce tenders, or move earlier and read what a buyer publishes before the tender exists: digital strategies, website roadmaps, committee papers about replacing a payment platform. Stotles pulls notices from 100+ portals into one search. Platform-wide, 0 notices were added in the last seven days.
What CPV codes are used for e-commerce tenders?
Most e-commerce work is coded as IT rather than as retail. In a 50 notice sample the commonest codes were 72000000 (IT services: consulting, software development, Internet and support), 48000000 (Software package and information systems) and 72413000 (World wide web (www) site design services).
66151100 (Electronic marketplace retailing services) is the closest thing to a dedicated code, and it is rare: only 12 notices carry it alongside this page's keywords. So filtering by CPV code alone will miss most of this market.
What sort of e-commerce contracts does the public sector award?
Three shapes recur. Build and support of an online store, often on a hosted platform such as Shopify or Magento, or on the content management system the buyer already runs. Payment and checkout work, usually tendered together with fee collection from students or residents. Then the operational tail: warehousing, fulfilment and third party logistics once the shop is trading.
The buyers behind these notices are mostly organisations with something to sell: museums and visitor attractions, universities and colleges, and councils with a trading arm.
Are there many open e-commerce tenders right now?
Not many, and that is normal for this category. Three notices matching this page are at the open stage, against 302 awarded and 65 at pre-tender, and only two matching notices were published in the last seven days.
If you sell e-commerce build or support, the awarded records earn more of your time than the open list. They show who bought what, when the contract expires, and who is likely to buy again.
How is this different from a general website tender?
The overlap is real. Plenty of e-commerce requirements sit inside a broader website redevelopment, which is why this page filters on the commerce words rather than on website work in general.
If what you sell is design, build and content rather than transactions, the web tenders page is the better list. Payment processing and merchant acquiring are a separate market again, and were deliberately left out of this filter.
