Tender description

Experience Project: Destination Marketing Website Project Brief The project Cornwall Council would like to appoint a creative agency to undertake development of a new website to represent our new tourism brand for Bodmin, a major project for the new destination marketing group we are setting up. Following the rollout of our new brand for tourism marketing in Bodmin. We want to roll out the new brand into a new website – this will act as the flagship piece of marketing collateral for the new destination brand. We are looking for a creative agency, with significant experience and expertise in web development and design, to lead the development of this project. Background Experience uses targeted marketing campaigns to reposition towns in Cornwall, to make them year-round destinations, driving footfall to town centres in the low season, ensuring a resilient visitor economy. The programme also seeks to attract visitors to less well-known locations, to evenly distribute visitors across Cornwall during peak season away from the traditional honeypot areas and to alleviate some of the pressures of mass-tourism on local communities and the environment. Our current situation After its success in West Cornwall and Newquay, the project is now focusing on Bodmin from April 2025 to March 2027. It aims to bring more visitors to the town by creating unique cultural and low carbon experiences. The project has four main parts: 1. Helping local businesses and people build skills and connections. 2. Improving what Bodmin offers to visitors. 3. Promoting Bodmin as a place to visit 4. Evaluating how well the project is working. The project team want to build on Bodmin’s ambition to become a major tourism destination based on its heritage attractions, cultural events and recreational opportunities. Whilst it is not traditionally a tourist hotspot, Bodmin is ideally situated to be a gateway to mid-Cornwall. It’s close to Bodmin Moor, the Camel Trail, and both the north and south coasts. It’s also near popular attractions and is surrounded by wild natural landscapes. The project will run a focused marketing campaign to show off what makes Bodmin special. With investment and improvements in the town, the goal is to create lasting benefits for local people. We have already started to bring together a destination marketing group, and the branding project will be run in collaboration with these partners. The final brand would need to be signed off by this working group. We have some early marketing recommendations from a previous piece of consultation work, which can be shared with the agency, and we have some dedicated partners involved in this marketing group – including representation from teams IntoBodmin, Bodmin Keep, Bodmin Railway, St Petroc’s Church, Bodmin Town Museum, Bodmin Jail and Bodmin Town Council. Funding for the project comes from the Good Growth Fund for 2025–26, and from Cornwall Council’s Town Centre Revitalisation Fund for 2026–27.
