Tender description
The Council as a Waste Disposal Authority for Leicestershire owns and operates a statutory\r waste service across Leicestershire 13 Recycling and Household Waste Sites (RHWS) and 4\r Waste Transfer Stations (WTS).\r The Council is looking to procure the construction works to replace the concrete floor slab in\r the lower yard at its Oadby RHWS and the concrete floor slab including the Alfabloc Aframes within the shed at its Whetstone WTS.\r Lot 1 - Oadby RHWS, Wigston Road, Leicestershire, LE2 5JE.\r • Existing slab within the lower yard at Oadby RHWS is approx. 18 years old.\r • Significant deterioration over recent years especially defects around the joints and gullies.\r • Environmental Agency permit requirement is to ensure the floor slab is a sealed surface.\r • Environmental Agency permit tonnage allowance for this site is 25,000 tonnes per annum.\r • Waste is disposed in waste containers and in hook lift open and compaction containers.\r Lot 2 - Whetstone WTS, Enderby Rd, Leicestershire, LE8 6JL.\r Page 4 to 10\r • Existing slab within the WTS is approx. 12 years old.\r • Significant deterioration over recent years, with defects as exposed rebar, exposed dowel\r bars at some expansion joints, cracks in the concrete slab and significant wear to one side.\r • Environmental permit tonnage allowance for the WTS is 45,000 tonnes per annum.\r • Composition of waste is mainly residual household waste & trade waste.\r • Waste is loaded in artic trailer lorries using a loading shovel.\r Scope of the works\r The works required include:\r • Breakout and removal of existing slabs and disposal of materials at licensed tips.\r • Replacement of floor slabs including drainage in accordance with the scheme\r specifications and drawings.\r • For Whetstone WTS to include the removal and replacement of Alfabloc A-frames.
