TIDE, or 'Atlantic Network for Developing Historical Maritime Tourism' project, focuses on the sustainable development of onshore and underwater sites of historical interest on the Atlantic Area coastline. The project outputs will aid organisations and practitioners in the Atlantic region tourism development sector to develop new tourism products. With a focus on maritime history in the Atlantic regions, the sites relate to shipwrecks, ports, battles, emigration, trade, forts, migrations, castles and invasions. A key aspect of the project is creation of new networked tourism products based on rediscovering historical connections between regions on the Atlantic. A key output of this project has been the development of VR (Virtual Reality) experiences for tourists based on Migration and First World War Heritage. After sourcing additional funding, DCSDC (Derry City and Strabane District Council) is moving to the final stage of the project and is seeking a suitable company to design and deliver an additional VR experience to complement the current one in place. DCSDC requires the design and deliver of a VR experience which will be based on some predefined parameters including the following: A) Design Immersive VR experience using current hardware and software already in place in the Tower Museum to include animation and audio using historic material supplied by DCSDC Museum Service. B) Design trailer, promotional material and interpretative panels to highlight the story of the VR experience for visitors. Please refer to CfT documents for further details.
