Logan Raised Pathway

Tender description

In order to improve accessibility to pedestrian pathway we have identified an opportunity to build a raised pathway connecting two garden paths with a sunken area of shrub bed in the centre (approx. 1m below the pathway). The funding for the project must be spent by 31st March 2023 which drives the delivery the projection completion by this date. Appendix 1 provides a detailed drawing of what is required. The contractor should provide the piers to support the lintels, the pathway and the associated railing. Appendix 2 provides a map of the proposed location. In terms of access for mechanical equipment, the site will accommodate a mini digger, but not a full-sized JCB. Concrete for the foundations would have to be mixed on site. There is no access available for pre-mixed concrete delivery to location in the Garden. If you wish to use pre-mixed concrete, you would need to manually transport the concrete to the site within the Garden. Photos of the location are provided in the tender pack. Logan Botanic Garden will supply the two rolled steel joists/lintels that span the pathway for which no guarantees are sought. However, we will be seeking guarantees in relation to its construction and timbers used on site. The accessible pathway should have the following features: Width of no less than 1m Gradient of no more than 1:20 Non-slip surface to allow traction for wheelchairs Wooden surfaces should be coated with hot bitumen and sharp sand or netting to improve grip. Must be well laid, and at right angles to direction of travel so as not to trap wheelchair wheels Project delivery outcomes are: Delivery of a raised pathway as per Appendix 1 Interconnection of accessible pathway to existing paths On time delivery by 31st March 2023
