As part of its Affordable Homes Wave 2 building programme, the London Borough of Redbridge appointed a multi-disciplinary design team, led by Rivington Street Studio to design new council homes on the Budoch Court Estate near Newbury Park in June 2020. This new generation of council housing will provide high quality and sustainable homes for the borough’s residents, strengthening and improving outcomes for its diverse communities by improving neighbourhoods and creating great places to live. Works started on site on 6 June 2022. The works which have been completed include plywood hoarding around the perimeter of the site, the foundations, ground floor slab, underground drainage and the first course of blockwork. The timber frame has been fully designed by a specialist subcontractor. The Council are now tendering the new build part of the project (8 homes in a stand-alone block) under a single stage design and build contract. The successful contractor will take on the incumbent design team and take responsibility for all of the works completed. The rooftop extensions do not form part of this project. A site visit is planned for 19th September from 2pm onwards where you can meet the project lead and design representative.
