Proposed Extension and Refurbishment of The Tholsel Building at High Street, Kilkenny

Tender description

Reconfiguration, refurbishment and extension of existing, Protected Structure (Recorded Monument) and associated site works. Refurbishment of the existing Tholsel Building, Protected Structure, (Recorded Monument) with a gross floor area of 762m2. Construction of a new double height glazed extension within the ground floor arcade with a gross floor area of 50 sq.m. Works to existing basement including provision of new access and ancillary site works and a new plant area adjacent to the Almshouses and exposure of archaeological zones. New extension and basement to the rear. The building will operate as a new tourist attraction as well as a town hall. There will be concurrent works (outside of this contract) for the exhibition / gallery area.
