Rodneys Pillar situated on top of Breidden hill, straddling the Montgomeryshire and Shropshire border on land managed by NRW under a 999-year forestry lease from the Criggion Estate. As part of this arrangement NRW have obligations associated with health and safety and heritage conservation to ensure the structure is maintained in good order. The broad scope of the contract is for the undertaking of repairs to address the vertical cracking and stabilise the delaminating stone face of the structure. This will predominantly involve crack stitching and banding and reporting in traditional lime mortar in accordance with the detailed schedule of works.
