Tender description

Under the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine’s Capital Works Programme, it is proposed to construct 2no. new Storage Buildings within the Harbour. One of the buildings will be a plant store (Shipyard Storage Building) with a ground floor workshop type area (with work benches) and a mezzanine area for storage of equipment and materials. The second building known as the Harbour Master’s Store is located within the new ISPS pier development and is a single storey building for vehicles as well as storage of plant and equipment. It is important to point out that both buildings must be constructed in tandem with each other, and all materials and equipment should be ordered together. Both buildings shall be procured and constructed alongside each other to ensure that sustainability and green procurement are a part of the development of these buildings. Both buildings are to have piled foundations down to bedrock with reinforced concrete ground beam and floor slabs. The finished concrete floors on both stores are to have a power floated finish acceptable to DAFM Engineer. The main contractor on the project will be required to carry out their duties under the Building Control amendment Regulations (BCaR). Shipyard Storage Building This building is located in a busy Shipyard where vessels are removed from the water and moved between maintenance bays and the Boat Repair Building (BRB). This operation shall not be interrupted by the works. Storage areas during construction are to be agreed with the Engineer prior to commencement and DAFM Foreman for the Shipyard is to be consulted throughout the Construction Stage with regard to all movements of plant and equipment and storage of materials.
