Tender description

In 2016, Fáilte Ireland and Coillte established a strategic partnership to provide enhanced outdoor tourism experiences at Coillte properties in order to promote them as world-class destinations to visitors from overseas and Ireland. One of the key projects under this partnership, is to establish Ireland as an international destination for mountain biking. The Department of Rural & Community Development through the Rural Regeneration Development Funding Scheme are the main funders of this project. This procurement process commences the development of trailhead buildings to deliver this project. Each trailhead building centre will have a full range of visitor facilities (café, showers, toilets, bike hire, servicing, washing etc) to provide a complete experience for riders and visitors. Lot 1: Baunreagh, Co. Laois - Construction of Regional Mountain Bike Trailhead Buildings It is envisaged that the proposed trailheads will incorporate latest technology in engineered structural timber & include provision for: • Café/Coffee Shop Area • Bike Hire Servicing/Storage Area • Toilets & Showers Area • External canopies/sheltered areas for groups to congregate and be served refreshments • Promote natural lighting with glazed sections to incorporate views of the surrounding areas • Merge in seamlessly to a forest environment • Be of a similar form, brand and character that visitors would instantly recognise each building from having previously visited another trailhead building/location in the country. • Some trailhead development may also include access roads & car parking provision Lot 2: Coolaney , Co. Sligo - Construction of Regional Mountain Bike Trailhead Buildings It is envisaged that the proposed trailheads will incorporate latest technology in engineered structural timber & include provision for: • Café/Coffee Shop Area • Bike Hire Servicing/Storage Area • Toilets & Showers Area • External canopies/sheltered areas for groups to congregate and be served refreshments • Promote natural lighting with glazed sections to incorporate views of the surrounding areas • Merge in seamlessly to a forest environment • Be of a similar form, brand and character that visitors would instantly recognise each building from having previously visited another trailhead building/location in the country. • Some trailhead development may also include access roads & car parking provision Lot 3: Tiknock, Co.
