Tender description
Construction of an extension to the terminal building for a new passenger security screening facility Lot 1: The Works will comprise the following: 1. A 2-storey terminal extension to the north east of existing terminal facility. Interfacing with the northside of existing Check In Hall, the east side of the existing vertical circulation core and the north side of the original Terminal building with extensive demolitions and modifications to existing elements to achieve proposed layouts. The proposed building will incorporate: a. new elevational treatment to better define the front face of Belfast International Airport b. central search facility c. improved retail back of house facilities including a ground floor new goods in checkpoint and new goods lifts d. associated security operational facilities e. walk through duty free (shell only) f. new Goods In Waste Away facility g. new consolidated car hire units and ancillary facilities h. new arrivals exit hall i. roof mounted plant 2. External works to include: a. demolition of existing external canopy to terminal forecourt b. new canopy to terminal forecourt with improved passenger routing/distribution and associated landscaping c. relocated taxi rank d. modifications to existing coach park e. relocated goods in waste away yard f. additional HVM g. works to existing sub-station 2A 3. Primarily landside construction (Approx. 95% landside - 5 % airside) a. various construction stage interfaces with airside elements along with final transfer of landside site to airside operation b. contractors compound landside 4. Approx. 90% new build on brownfield site bounded by landside vehicular and passenger movements to the north, goods in yard to the east and the existing terminal to the south. 5. Approx. 10% reconfiguration of existing terminal which includes modifications to the existing Central Search facility (to become new commercial shell unit) and new consolidated car hire units with ancillary facilities. 6. Stage 4 design is finalised and current approx. new build areas comprise: a. Proposed ground floor new build: approx. 1525 sq.m. (with associated void area beneath first floor) b. Proposed first floor new build: approx. 3675 sq.m. c. External canopy: approx. 625 sq.m.
