Tender description

Work is to be undertaken to a Protected Structure and is expected to be undertaken to an appropriate standard using conservation grade materials. It is noted that the site is located adjacent to Lough Swilly SAC & SPA areas; work on the foreshore side coincides with the high water mark, and whilst proposed repairs are not actions which require Ministerial Consent under SPA regulations, a Screening and Appropriate Assessment of the contractor's proposed method statement will be required. The works described here are those which are currently known about. Parts of the structure, particularly voids in masonry, may not become fully revealed until during the course of the work. These are risks that cannot be fully quantified, whilst provision has been made for these, if the need for additional repair works is revealed, this may be undertaken as a further phase. The overall scope of the works proposed to be undertaken in this phase are detailed in the documentation. Tenderers should price each item as scheduled and supply a breakdown of pricing in the form of a bill of quantities to facilitate valuation of the work as it is completed. Works are to be let as a "fixed price" contract with allowance for items identified as "provisional" to be remeasured during the course of the work if necessary. No variations will be entertained during the contract unless explicitly agreed prior to execution. It is noted that works are subject to the availability of funding and the schedule is also broken down to facilitate remeasurement in the event that works need to be adjusted according to conditions on site. Tenderers are required to complete this pricing schedule for submission with their tender. The successful tenderer will be required to supply a detailed breakdown/ bill of quantities for review by the quantity surveyor, and for contract purposes.
