Public Realm and Highway Improvement -Construction works: The California Cross project is situated at the California Crossroads at the intersection of B3016 Finchampstead Road and B3430 Nine Mile Ride Road. These roads link Wokingham and Finchampstead on the North-South axis and Arborfield and Bracknell on the East-West axis. The Cross Roads are a key focus point of the local community with a primary school, nursery school, post office, and other land use. It is also an important highway junction with about 2000 vehicles per hour traveling through it during peak hours (2015 data), causing some congestion. Currently, there is not a strong sense of place and there is an opportunity to create this, utilizing shared space principles as a key component of the scheme.
