Bishop's Itchington parish council wants to replace the majority of its playground equipment with the installation of new equipment including appropriate surfacing for younger children. Lot 1: Bishop's Itchington parish council wants to replace the majority of its playground equipment with the installation of new equipment including appropriate surfacing for younger children. Bishop's Itchington is set in a rural location and this should be taken into consideration when designing the new playground. The intention is to provide an innovative, inclusive modern play area to suit children with ages ranging from toddlers to mid-teens. To this end, we are seeking a company to supply and install new play equipment and safety surfacing. As stated, the play equipment/area must suit toddlers to mid-teens of all abilities. The playground equipment should include the criteria/activities of swinging, climbing and sliding. A 'centrepiece' item of equipment should be included. The design should incorporate a designated area specifically for younger children and should include seating for parents/minders and it would be beneficial if this seating could provide some shade from the sun. An Ariel Runway has recently been installed and this item should be retained in its current location and this section of the play area should not be included in the new works. There is a preference to retain the following items of equipment but, albeit, not necessarily in the same location. Although this is not essential, a rational should be given as to why they can not be retained/incorporated: - 2 x Springers - See Saw - Elephant Rocker - Twisted Rope (on green mulch) All other existing equipment is to be removed and disposed of by the successful contractor unless otherwise instructed. As stated, the design should include elements/requirements for swinging, climbing and sliding as well as a cantilever swing, obstacle course, monkey bars and two playboards for toddlers (e.g. Noughts and Crosses). All works equipment and IAS shall be manufactured, tested, installed and conform to the relevant British and European Standards (i.e. BSEN1176 and BSEB1177). The play equipment must also comply with the DDA (Disability Discrimination Act) i.e. all-inclusive play and accessibility.
