Highway Weed Control

Tender description

The City of York Council wishes to award a contract for Highway Weed Control across the city of York Council area. Three treatments are required each year in late spring, summer and early autumn. The authority is looking to maintain 98% control of all vegetation within 3 weeks of application in the specified areas. The areas concerned have been managed with a three spray programme for many years and weed infestation is under control. As part of City of York Council journey to phase out the use of glyphosate, the Council is offering Wards the ability to opt out of the 3rd treatment. The contractor will be advised which ward (s) are not receiving a 3rd treatment no later than the completion of the 2nd treatment. Throughout this contract the Council will be undertaking further trials of alternative weed treatment approaches. The contactor may be asked to assist in such trials and to offer their professional opinion on the effectiveness and viability of such trials as a principle weed treatment method.
