Affordable Workspace Opportunities - Site Visits

<p>We are excited to be developing new affordable workspace projects during this year and are pleased to introduce two project opportunities. We invite you to visit the new sites on the dates below. Affordable workspace officers will be available to answer your questions and take your comments on the project opportunities. Garrett Street Site Visit Wednesday 25 May 9.30 &ndash; 12.30 Accompanied tours will happen every half hour from approximately 9:35. Bingfield Street Site Visit Friday 27 May 10am &ndash; 12.30 The site can be viewed from the public realm, you can contact us to arrange a phone call regarding the site if you cannot make the site visit date - affordableworkspace@islington.gov.uk Please let us know if you would like to attend one or both site visits. Garrett Street in Bunhill is the listed site of the old Whitbread Stables. We are working with a developer through S106 contributions to develop an affordable workspace/makerspace in the ground and first floor of the building. We will be tendering for an operator for the first 10 years of the building during this summer and anticipate opening the site in mid-2024. The site is a few minutes&rsquo; walk from Old Street station. For further information please see the attached visit information. Bingfield Street under croft garages in the Caledonian Ward. This workspace will be in a set of under croft storage spaces within a council owned residential block. The project will redevelop these spaces into 6-8 small 15m2 rentable units thus turning them from storage to active workspace. This site overlooks what will be a redeveloped Bingfield Park and is adjacent to the Crumbles Castle adventure playground. We envisage this to be a community focused space and are hoping to hear the thoughts of operators and local groups and how you might activate this.
