Tender description

Derry City and Strabane District Council has a requirement to replace the footbridge over the River Faughan at Park Village, Co. Derry (known locally as as 'The Footstick') and repairs to a badly damaged pedestrian path approaching the bridge from the Altinure Road. This contract is for the fabrication and construction of a replacement footbridge and improvements to the pedestrian paths approaching the new bridge from both the Altinure Road and the car park at Learmount County Park. It is envisaged that the replacement bridge will be fabricated from steel and have a clear span of approximately 12 metres. As the River Faughan is defined as a ‘Special Area of Conservation’ by the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA), the contractor will be required to liaise with NIEA and all other regulatory bodies as necessary to agree appropriate methodologies for undertaking the works. The contractor will be required to implement the Works in accordance with the agreed methodologies, with due regard for the environmental sensitivities and the habitats of the River Faughan and take due account of these in their programming of the Works.
