Provision of Specialist Training Programme for Community of Practice Training and Development Initiative

Tender description

The Health Service Executive (HSE) invites responses from suitably qualified candidates for the provision of a specialist training and leadership programme for staff working across approximately 10 residential disability settings, incl. HSE and S38 and S39 agencies. In line with the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the Transforming Lives Policy, Disability Services are being reformed, developed and reconfigured to support and enable people with disabilities to live in their own homes and communities, through services, supports and environments designed and adapted as necessary to meet their needs. Substantial progress has been achieved to date in a number of specific settings to drive a change in the model of disability residential services and influence the long term shift in the culture of services, moving from traditional care models to a model that is person centred and supports self-direction. This has been achieved through focussed, intentional work in a number of priority settings with SSDL (Supported Self Directed Living), SRV (Social Role Valorisation) and Discovery training for staff throughout these residential services. This project aims to ensure that this change is grown further in the disability residential sector, by delivering a programme of leadership, training and support targeted at the next group of priority settings and settings already making progress but who require additional support in order to develop a “critical mass” of trained staff to bring about sustained change It is intended that this training will equip the staff in the selected services with the managerial and leadership skills and the knowledge and skills of good practice to support and actively progress a decongregation plan within an identified setting
