T BUS 21 – 108: Design and Delivery of TIDE Project VR Experience on Migration Heritage

TIDE, or 'Atlantic Network for Developing Historical Maritime Tourism' project, focuses on the sustainable development of onshore and underwater sites of historical interest on the Atlantic Area coastline. The project outputs will aid organisations and practitioners in the Atlantic region tourism development sector to develop new tourism products. With a focus on maritime history in the Atlantic regions, the sites relate to shipwrecks, ports, battles, emigration, trade, forts, migrations, castles and invasions. A key aspect of the project is creation of new networked tourism products based on rediscovering historical connections between regions on the Atlantic. A key output of this project is the development of a VR (Virtual Reality) experience for tourists highlighting key heritage experiences gathered and proposed by the TIDE Derry/Strabane Stakeholder Group. As a result DCSDC (Derry City and Strabane District Council) is seeking a suitable company to design and deliver a VR experienced based on the 19th Century emigration port of Derry DCSDC requires the design and deliver of a VR experience which will be based on some predefined parameters including the following: a) Design Immersive VR experience, including animation and audio using historic material supplied by DCSDC Museum Service. A similar headset is required in order to allow interchangeable VR experiences in the future with other TIDE partners, and a shared VR experience is already in development see CfT documents for specifications and further details on PC and Headset requirements. b) Design and installation of mobile designed booth to house VR experience. c) Design and installation of mobile interpretative panels to house booth and VR experience d) Provision of a suitable ‘gateway’ to the TIDE online resource platform.
