Tender description

Civil works required re laying of UPVC green ducts. In total the Council is looking at 3 areas of ducting - West (c.10km), South (c.6.3km) and North (c.2.4km). This tender is specifically for the larger of these areas (West) but the Council reserves the right to extend any work made as a result of this procurement process to cover one or both of the additional areas. As part of Aberdeen City Council's ongoing commitment to improving the communications network throughout it's operations, a project is being undertaken to extend the City's Public Sector fibre network. To support this, ACC will shortly be undertaking a tender for the civils involved to enable laying of UPVC green ducts. In total the Council is looking at 3 areas of ducting - West (c.10k), South (c.6.3k) and North (c.2.4k) But this will not all necessarily be covered off under one tender. A tender pertaining to the main part of this project (West) will be published in Jan / Feb and is summarised below. This tender may also include the requirements relating to the South element of this project. West - Installation of two 100mm internal diameter UPVC Green ducts to be laid for approx. 10km long in 450mm wide by 610mm avg. depth trench, from Mounthooly roundabout westbound to the city limit, with some minor further connections. Excavation and covering up reinstating initial surface conditions. The route goes mainly on footpaths, cycleways and green areas, but will also include small sections in the carriageway (760mm minimum depth excavation). Chambers 450x450mm or 600x450mm to be installed at specified locations with 150m maximum span. Installation of optic fibre cable inside the ducts and connections to related cabinets and terminations.
