Tender description
Caerphilly County Borough Council (CCBC) are proposing to construct a culvert and canalised channel along an unnamed watercourse adjacent to Montclaire Avenue in Blackwood. The Scheme will address severe bank erosion and bed incision of the unnamed watercourse, which has in turn led to the culvert located upstream to become perched and undermined. Trees have begun to fall into the watercourse channel and the vertical banks have become unstable. The Scheme will provide structural support and prevent further erosion of the channel banks which could potentially lead to the undermining of adjacent properties. All details are held in the documentation on the councils e-tender portal All temporary and or enabling works, structural or otherwise, must be designed by a suitably competent designer who’s name and company must be supplied as part of the CPP. Additionally, calculations, design methodology, risk mitigations and drawings ( if appropriate ) must be supplied to the Authority’s Principal Designer for review / comment prior to work commencement Access /Egress to the site has been identified via St Peters Drive (ST 17194 96235). The route is located within a residential development and the contractor is to take all practical steps to ensure site deliveries and / over vehicular movements is planned and supervised from the B4254, St Andrews Drive & St Peters Drive, This route must remain open for the duration of the works and a suitable traffic management strategy must be developed and approved by the relevant Authority officers / Departments prior work commencement. A new site access road will need to be constructed from St Peters Drive to the new structure which will also serve as the site access/ egress route during the construction works. Due to the nature of the adjoining land uses the nominated Principal Contractor is to supply a detailed site security statement that stipulates the methods to be used during construction to mitigate unauthorised persons accessing the site. The contract is NEC3 Contract option B. The tender process is in a single stage which is awarded based 60% on cost and 40% on quality
