Provision of Interpretive Design and Installation at Vandeleur Walled Gardens, Kilrush

Tender description

The Council and Trust have secured funding to complete the restoration of the original Stable Block buildings of the Vandeleur Estate, Kilrush, Co. Clare which to date have remained dilapidated and unused. This collection of buildings involves the 4 sides to a typical Quadrant formed around a rectangular Courtyard. The plan is to restore this collection of buildings and create new interpretive spaces, visitor welcome reception area, retail spaces, a multi – functional community meeting space and public toilets. The project is funded by Rural Regional Development Funding combined and partly by Clare County Council. The Interpretive Designer will be required to undertake all the appropriate research, both locally and globally, to source material for the stories that are to be told, the design of all the appropriate methods/media of communicating those stories to the public through models, digital display, story boards, the presentation of artefacts, living history animation roles, etc. Historical accuracy and facts of all material proposed will need to be validated by an appropriate specialist and take in consideration of the themes of the Visitor Experience Strategy in consultation with the Trust and nominated stakeholders. The IPDS will conceive, design and manage the delivery of an interpretation experience, including procurement of all specialist suppliers, equipment and fit out for the allocated budget within this tender.
