Tender description

The Contract is for the provision of the refurbishment and extension of the existing library building. The refurbished library building will be a modern and flexible space, combining traditional reference materials, IT provision, multiple study spaces and social spaces, while addressing current issues with the building fabric and services The building is a three storey rectangular shaped steel frame structure clad in brick, with a precast concrete roof supported on steel beams. Amendments to some existing openings (eg. access doors to rear courtyard in location of existing windows) as required. At roof level, existing roof coverings including insulation and waterproof liner to be removed. Screed and hollowcore units to be removed to form new rooflight opening - process will be repeated on other levels to form atrium/circulation area. New built-up reinforced bitumen membrane warm deck roof covering to be applied. Existing external doors and windows are all to be replaced. New canopies formed at each of the entrances from the carpark, new draft lobbies to be formed internally. Internal partitions all to be removed, existing spiral stair between first and second floor levels to be removed and void to be filled in. This project is due to be completed by September 2022, with an anticipated starting date of September 2021 (12 month Contract Period).
