Conversion and extension of former office building to new educational facility. The Mary Ward Centre is a Council run adult education facility offering courses on a wide range of subjects from art to zumba, archaeology to ukulele and computing and business to psychology and counselling. The Centre currently operates in three buildings in central London which are becoming close to the end of their serviceable life, so the decision has been taken to amalgamate all courses offered by the Centre under one roof. To this end, the Centre has acquired a former office building in Stratford, East London. The existing building has a gross internal area of circa 17 900 sq.f over lower ground, ground, first and second floors with new proposals to alter the existing building and add two further levels to give a total gross internal area of circa 31 500 sq.ft. The existing building has already been stripped out, this PQQ is the first stage in selecting a main contractor to deliver the new scheme ready for the commencement of the summer term in April 2022.
