Tender description

The City of Newcastle upon Tyne Council has a requirement to enter into contracts for the supply, installation and servicing of disabled adaptations to the residents of Newcastle Upon Tyne. The framework will cover but is not limited to stair lifts, through lifts, bathing adaptations, access adaptations, ceiling track hoists, door entry systems, and major building works. Supply and installation of stair lifts. Supply and installation of ceiling track hoists. Supply and installation of platform lifts. The works comprises the delivery of general building work under a Disabled Facilities Grant award comprising undertaking of room conversions, bathroom adaptations, new extensions, garage conversions, kitchen adaptations and installation of automated toilets and various safety provisions all as described in the specification, at various properties within the City of Newcastle upon Tyne following an award of a Disabled Facilities Grant. Supply and installation of door entry systems. Newcastle City Council have stair lifts, hoists and platform lifts installed in a number of residential properties across Newcastle upon Tyne. • Adaptations in properties owned by Newcastle City Council (YHN) are owned by Newcastle City Council and as a result are to be serviced and repaired. • adaptations in private properties made under a Disabled Facilities Grant are owned by the property owner. The property owner is responsible for servicing (this may be with a third party) Newcastle City Council has undertaken to carry out repairs in private properties where the adaptation has been installed by a Disabled Facilities Grant. • Hoists and lifts installed under a Disabled Facilities Grant (see above) are to be included as part of the service contract, as the equipment will be used by care staff employed by the Council. • Tenderers may be required to remove, store and recycle equipment. There may be a requirement to store any equipment from the beginning of the contract that is currently being stored by the incumbent contractor on the commencement of the contract. As part of its services to disabled residents, the Council supplies and installs specialist bathing equipment. Your Homes Newcastle (YHN) an arms-length management organisation established by Newcastle City Council to manage its housing stock, seek a contractor to provide responsive repair services for this bathing equipment. The contract will be formally let by Newcastle City Council but will be managed by YHN on the Council's behalf. Supply and installation of access works (temporary ramps, temporary steps, permanent ramps, paving, and shallow steps). Supply and installation of bariatric stair lifts. Supply and installation of wash/dry toilets.
