Construction of a new three-storey, RC frame, 50 bed rehabilitation in-patient unit with integrated therapies, at the Western Community Hospital Campus, William Macleod Way, Teboura Way, Southampton, SO16 4QE. The scheme is currently in detailed design, with planning submitted in September 2020. The planning drawings are available via the planning portal — see link below: https://planningpublicaccess.southampton.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?keyVal=QH7XRJOZK4Q00&activeTab=summary The purpose of this prior information notice (PIN) is to initiate a market engagement exercise for the procurement of a main works contractor to deliver the construction of a new purpose built 50 bed rehab unit, in accordance with the client’s design and JCT form of contract. An options appraisal has been completed and approved at programme board. Detailed design is underway. The preferred way forward for the construction of new three storey building with supporting therapies facilities (physiotherapy/occupational therapy), is for the new rehabilitation unit to be constructed in a single phase on the site of the Western Community Hospital. The location is an area that is large enough to accommodate all the new facilities in a purpose-built structure and enables construction to take place without disrupting services in the existing hospital. Please note this is not a design and build contract but will contain some minor contractor design portions.
