Refurbishment of Cathal Brugha Blocks 1 and 2

Tender description

Cathal Brugha Barracks Block 1 & 2 are adjacent accommodation blocks with a gross floor area (total for the two buildings) of approximately 1,490m2. The blocks were constructed to the same design and layout in the early 1980s but, as they now stand, differ slightly in layout. The buildings are two storey, faced with clay brick (apart from some feature areas with a rendered finish) and with slated pitched roofs. It is proposed to replace the roof finishes and raingoods, alter the layout of some rooms (including adjustments to walling, roof space partitions and the formation of opes in walls), upgrade the internal wall, floor and ceiling finishes and replace the mechanical and electrical services. The buildings will be redecorated throughout. The internal work will include upgrading the insulation of the walls and roofs and upgrading the shower and toilet facilities. Ancillary siteworks will include providing / replacing incoming gas, water and electricity services connections, drainage work and site surfacing. Temporary arrangements to ensure continuity of electrical supply to facilities powered from the blocks will be a requirement.
