Tender description
Dublin City Council (DCC) is to build a new international standard White-Water Rafting Centre (WWRC) in George's Dock, Dublin 1. The WWRC will consist of the white-water rafting course, swift water rescue training facility, kayaking and canoe polo pool and urban street scene. As part of this WWRC, DCC wish to procure a specialist to design, manufacture, supply and installation of 2 no steel water retention gates and 6 no Penstocks for the proposed Whitewater Rafting Centre. Please consult the appropriate documentation, which contains full instructions regarding the submission of expressions of interest and is available to download from www.etenders.gov.ie using RFT ID 168894 Please note that this project is subject to funding. The WWRC will consist of the white-water rafting course, swift water rescue training facility, kayaking and canoe polo pool and urban street scene. As part of this WWRC, DCC wish to procure a specialist to design, manufacture, supply and installation of 2 no steel water retention gates and 6 no Penstocks for the proposed Whitewater Rafting Centre. The following specialist works are required: • the flood rescue village section of this project (to be used for training purposes by emergency services) requires 2 no watertight steel doors as follows: — onbound gate: (diverting water from the white-water rafting course upper channel into rescue village) 9 to 11 m wide x 2.1 m high double faced (steel plate on both sides); — outbound gate: (retaining water in the rescue village) 8 m wide x 1.9 m high single faced (steel plate on one side only); — both gates are to be designed by the gate supplier to resist the dynamic hydrostatic water pressure associated with water flowing at 14m3/s. Doors to be fully watertight with all associated seals and gasketry supplied. Gates to be hinged on 1 side only with a watertight seal achieved up to the surrounding reinforced concrete course structure. Gates to have a corrosion protection system suitable for use in chlorinated swimming pool quality water. • Penstock gates: — design, supply and installation of a number of penstock gates within the white-water rafting centre, Georges Dock, Dublin. 6 no gates are required varying from 500 x 500 mm to 1 500 x 2 500 mm; wall mounted in both on-seat and off-seat locations. — Penstocks are to be of a stainless steel/HDPE construction with EPDM seals. All penstocks are to be supplied with their own motorised actuator drive. 1 no of these penstocks is to be a modulated rack and pinion system.
