Tender description
The WCTIS UK Cyber Business Park scheme includes highway improvements to the west of Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. The scheme will increase junction capacity and reduce the queue length on approaches to Arle Court Roundabout and reduce the impact of queuing traffic on M5 Junction 11. It will improve public transport services for buses through the creation of new bus lanes and improved access and egress from the Arle Court Park and Ride site and improve local cycle and pedestrian facilities. This contract will deliver the construction of Phases 1 and 2 of the scheme. Phase 1 is focussed on Arle Court Roundabout and the B4063, Hatherley Lane and Fiddlers Green Lane approach arms. Phase 2 includes widening of the A40 eastbound between M5 J11 and Arle Court Roundabout. Both phases are included within this contract. Phase 1 – Arle Court Roundabout — widening of the A40 approaches and departure lanes at the roundabout, — widening of the Arle Court roundabout circulatory, — new bus exit slip road from the park and ride onto A40 westbound carriageway, — extension of Arle Court subway and retaining wall to accommodate additional traffic lanes and bus layby, — piling for subway foundations, — widening of Hatherley Lane to provide 2 lanes of traffic in each direction between Arle Court Roundabout and Park and Ride/Grovefield Way Roundabout, — new fibre reinforced polymer pedestrian footbridge, — upgrade of Arle Court roundabout traffic signals, — cycle and pedestrian improvements including new toucan crossing of Fiddlers Green Lane, — utility diversions, — all works for replacement Street lighting and new lit signs. Phase 2 – M5 J11 to Arle Court Roundabout — widening of A40 eastbound between M5 J11 to Arle Court Roundabout, — utility diversions. A summary of the outline programme for the scheme is shown below: Tender period: 12.12.2019 to 14.2.2020 Anticipated works start date: April 2020 Completion: February 2021 Overall duration: 48 weeks Indicative Value: 7 500 000 GBP The proposed procurement route will be a single stage (Open Procedure) using the NEC4 ECC form of contract, Option A Priced Contract with Activity Schedule.
