Tender description

The North East Passenger Transport Executive (trading as Nexus) has an ambition to enhance connectivity across its infrastructure in order to improve customer satisfaction, increase operational efficiency and support the region’s wider ambitions to provide world class digital connectivity. Nexus is currently in the process of procuring a new, modern train fleet that will require digital connectivity to operate. Therefore, Nexus is looking to appoint an organisation to manage a concession that delivers those digital aspirations and leverages the value of existing assets including fibre, ducting and landside assets. The successful organisation will be expected to ensure provision of between 600mb – 1GB per second across the entire Tyne and Wear Metro network, via 4G/5G/Wi-Fi or a combination. As part of a market consultation process Nexus is holding a supplier day where interested parties will have the opportunity to receive more information regarding Nexus’ digital aspirations. This event will take place on 13.11.2019 at the following location: The Core, Helix, Bath Lane, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE4 5TF.
