GMIT Mayo Campus External Fabric Upgrade Works Phase 1 & Phase 2 2019/20

Tender description

The Contracting Authority (Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology) intends to award a contract under the open procedure for external Building Fabric Upgrade Works at Galway Mayo Institute of Technology (GMIT) Mayo Campus,Westport Road, Castlebar, Co. Mayo. The proposed works involve the upgrade of the external fabric of the building and will include the refurbishment of circa 4,100m² of roof footprint, comprising various roof types and configurations. The works will include stripping natural slates and asbestos containing slates and replacing with new slates felt and battens. Decayed structural roof members will be cut out and new sections spliced in. The upgrade of the external fabric of the building will also include repairs to chimneys, repairs to stone work and re-pointing and the refurbishment / replacement of existing gutters and down-pipes. External windows will be refurbished / replaced. The existing facility will be occupied for the duration of the works. Hence, it is anticipated that the majority of the works will be carried out in two phases over summers 2019 and 2020, to minimise disruption to the Institute activities.
