Data Centre Server Refresh 2019

Tender description

The University of Derby's server infrastructure is over 6 years old and is due to be refreshed. We are looking to procure a Hyper-converged server solution to sustain current and future growth over the next 5 years. A hyper-converged platform is proposed rather than separate compute and storage infrastructure as it will be simpler and cheaper to install, manage, automate, and scale. Our IT Services Strategy prescribes the introduction of Hyper-converged infrastructure into our Data Centres from 2018 - 2023, providing the flexibility and agility to react to organisational demands and business change. Our services are becoming more cloud-based and as replacement programmes for some of our core services result in SaaS largely being the model of choice, our data centre technologies need to sustain current demands and allow for easy transition onto other future platforms.
