Tender description

North Ayrshire Council is required to appoint a principal contractor to construct the Upper Garnock Valley Flood Protection Scheme. The purpose of this scheme is to reduce the risk of flooding from the River Garnock and tributaries to the towns of Kilbirnie, Glengarnock and Dalry with the last notable flood event occurring in Kilbirnie in 2008. Bidders day is arranged for 09.00 a.m. on 4.10.2019 at Garnock Community Campus. The main elements of the scheme are: — construction of an online storage reservoir by means of a culverted earthworks dam constructed across the River Garnock just north of Kilbirnie, — direct defences adjacent to the River Garnock in the Paddockholm area of Kilbirnie, on the Powgree Burn in Glengarnock and adjacent to the DSM plant in Dalry, — a flood defence wall and mitigation measures around the Mill Park residential estate in Dalry.
