Tender description

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) is seeking expressions of interest from experienced contractors, to complete the construction of a new office building, at the Leicester Square Compound, Freetown, Sierra Leone. We are seeking submissions from companies who are capable of acting as main contractor, taking overall responsibility for construction. Submissions from subcontractors or suppliers for part of the works will not be considered. The proposed works is the construction of a bespoke low-rise building, to create a modern high-quality office space for the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office. The project will include installation of specialised M&E systems and a lift. The scope also includes some external works, which include upgrades to the compound perimeter and gatehouses. The works shall take-place within a secure compound and the contractor shall have access to specific areas within the compound for the duration of the works. The works will have to be carried to cause minimal disruption to the users of the site and need to be carefully coordinated, with Safety being paramount as the project will attract a considerable amount of scrutiny from the various stakeholders. It is envisaged that a significant proportion of the early-phases of the construction works will have to be carried out in the dry-season due to the constraints of the local climate.
